Baby Season!

Well for those who read my blog on a normal basis... you have noticed that a lot of people have had babies recently.... Brett and I went to the zoo yesterday because it is baby season there too.... and you know how I LOVE the zoo. (zoop... Im pretty sure it was Tori last year that called it the zoop when we were out it St Louis and now that is just what we call it.)
There was a baby giraffe that was so so cute!!! There were also 3 baby tigers, baby lemers, a baby snow cat, baby monkeys, and a baby elephant. We didnt get to see the elephant which I was sad about. It was born 2 weeks ago and is still bonding with its mother so it was not out on display.

My puppies got hair cuts again... so they dont look like homeless muts anymore. Lucy seems to be doing better with the coughing but the itching is still really bad. Im starting to think it is not a food allergy.

10 years

Today is the 10 year anniversary of the day I found out my dad was no longer with me on this earth. Time goes by so fast. I still miss him everyday. My mom has been going through all of our home videos lately and it has been really cool to watch and remember what it was like to have a a dad. I remember less and less and that is really sad. But I try really hard to hold on to him and to remember what I can. I know that some memories of him will forever be with me and no matter how much time goes by, i will always remember him and the great dad he was to me for the 14 years that I got to have him.

Happy Birthday Macy

My baby sister turned 19 yesterday. She is in Montana already for school so I wasnt able to give her her birthday hug! I love you Macy!!! We are planning another trip up there to see a couple of her games this year. So only another month till I see her!!

Olivia Louise Smith

Congrats to Brett's Brother and Sister in Law-- they just had their 4th little girl last night. I'm so excited to see them for Thanksgiving again this year. Olivia weighed 7 lbs 8.5 oz, and was 21 1/4 inches long.
I have to say that they make the most beautiful baby girls!! The more little nieces they want to give me the better!

Addison Cascade Bennett

My friend Kim had her baby! I went after work to see the little one. They are about 99% sure that her name is Addison and she looks just like her daddy. Cute enough to make me baby hungry..

Lucy

I decided to meet Brett and Lucy at the Vet on my lunch break. We went because of her itching and allergies but found out pretty quickly that she had something more serious going on. She has a heart murmur. I was and still am not completely sure about what that means for Lucy but they told us not to put her on the insurance plan because they were not totally optimistic about her making it through the year and if we put her on it we would have to continue paying even after she is gone. It took all I had to hold it together while the vet and nurse were in there. She just joined our family 3 months ago and I love her like I have had her for years.

There is nothing we can do for the actual murmur but we are treating the symptoms... coughing, fluid in the lungs... to make her more comfortable. Hopefully she is a fighter and we will hold on to her for a while longer.

As for the allergies, she is on a food trial.. perscription food and nothing else. Hopefully that works for her and she can be as comfortable as possible.

love...

Today I went to work at the normal 8 o clock and left at 9:15 to get to the Timpanogos Temple to be there for my step brother Gordon's wedding. It was really good- long but good. I was able to be back at work by 11:15. The temple is so close to my work. They are so happy together and Leona looked so pretty. I am glad I was able to be there. I know my dad was there as well so it was special. The reception was really nice. It was fun to see some people from my past again.

So Nathan (Brett's brother) is getting close to leaving the MTC. I look forward to every tuesday when a mass email to all the fam as well as a personal email are in my inbox. Todays letter was amazing. I am so proud of that kid and I am glad that the people of Detroit get to have such a strong young man serving them and the Lord. He says the language is coming along just fine. And he is excited to get out into the field.

Lucy (our newest addition to the family) has had really bad allergies ever since we got her. She is constantly itching her front legs as well as one of her back legs. I talked to her previous owner and she said that she has done that her whole life. I feel really bad for her-- Can you imagine having mosquito bits all over for your whole life? So I have scheduled an appointment for her to go see the vet. We have tried changing her food to a non allergen one and we have been told by the vet to try children benodryl which has not worked either. So the next thing is a shot that will hopefully take care of her itching. That appointment is on Thursday and they they are both goign to get groomed on Friday.

Baby Shower

I hosted Kim's baby shower on Saturday. It was so neat to see my girls from high school again. I think it has been about 2 years since we were all together (the 4 of us) There were also a few other friends from high school that I hadnt seen in probably 6 years. Crazy... It was really a lot of fun and we sat around and caught up on each others lives.

Kimmy got a lot of really cute stuff... and there was a lot of really good food-- thanks to everyone who helped out!! (Gina, Marie and Nicole)

wedding celebration

It has been the craziest 3 days ever... My little sister Alyssa married Kellen on Tuesday. I took work off on Monday to help my mom get everything ready and with the help of our whole family especially my aunt Cathie (the wedding planner) everything came together. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple. She looked so beautiful and I am so happy i got to be there. After the ceremony, we had the luncheon in Salt Lake and then drove home to finish setting up. We had the reception in the backyard of a family friend and it was so beautiful. Macy and I sang a song and then we all danced the night away!!!

The next day was the open house in Ogden, put on by his family. It was very nice and we had fun there. I made these matching bracelets for all 6 bridesmaids.... they turned out very cute.

It rained a bit at the open house right before it started and there was a pretty rainbow. It stayed dry for the rest of the night.

Alyssa was a gorgeous bride and it was a very nice few days. Now they are off to California for their honeymoon... lucky them...
