Soccer

We put Anavy in soccer this year. She loves it. My brother Dallin introduced her to it and she wanted to play so we signed her up. The first game was hilarious... she was totally confused about what was going on. She mostly just stood there and watched. As the games have gone on, she is much better and she gets the concept. She mostly still just follows the pack and occasionally will get in there to kick the ball. Sher is adorable and soccer makes her so happy. :)

Back to the Zoo

Its my favorite time of year-  Zoo season!!! I took the girls to the zoo a couple of weeks ago with my mom and brother. We had a really good time. We took them to the zoo right after we got them last year and they were totally oblivious to what anything was, they didnt care to see the animals, they just had no idea about anything like that. This time, the difference was amazing. They loved seeing the animals and the whole experience was so fun!!

The Girls are Ours !!!!

Yesterday was by far, the longest day of my life. We left the house at 8 to get to the courthouse for me to be briefed by the state attorney. The trial started at 9- I had to wait to testify till around 10:30. I did so well. I am a very emotional person when talking about things I am passionate about and people that I love so I was very nervous that I would not be able to control my emotions. I had Brett give me a blessing the night before and I had my wonderful family praying for me to be able to stay composed and get through it. I was up there for about 25 mins. They asked me a lot of things. They asked me if we loved them and if they were considered a part of my family (this is the point where I would have lost it.) Of course we love them. I love these girls more than anything. They are my world now and have been for a long time.  I talked about their progress and how they have adapted to being with us.

There were 9 witnesses in all and after 6 hours at the courthouse and and hour waiting for the judge to come back after his deliberation, we were called back in for the most nerve racking 20 mins of my entire life. He read off all the points of the case and determined the states arguments in all points were true. But he wasn't getting to the point fast enough. My heart has never, never, never pounded so hard. It was pounding through my entire body and I felt like I might have a heart attack or pass out any second. Brett's hand was being squeezed so hard, I'm sure it hurt, but he let me. :)

Finally, the judge got to the end, he read off several more points and at the end of each of those he stated that the point justifiable for termination of rights. He went on for about 5 more mins and then he said-

"This court has found that due to this evidence, that both parents have not make significant effort and therefore merits that I terminate parental rights permanently and completely. That is the ruling of this court. "

At that moment, my heart broke for those people. They had made mistakes that forever effected them and took away all 4 of their kids. It was a horrible moment to see them break down and sob because of their loss. At that same moment, I wanted to cry tears of happiness and joy. I waited until the parents were excused, and then, relief filled my heart and tears filled my eyes because I knew this fight was finally over and that our family would officially become permanent. The moment that I had been waiting 10 months for had come.

The attorneys and case workers walked us out. The parents were sitting in the hall. They were very angry and put some of that anger on me which also broke my heart. I had absolutely nothing to do with this. The ball had always been in their court- they had the opportunity and every recourse  for a very different outcome. They just chose not to take full advantage of it. I hate that they feel like I took them from them in even some small way.

Anavy, Khloe and Savannah will become legally ours sometime around September. We will be giving them middle names and they will be Smiths! The adoption process is long but the hard part is over. We can't wait to take them to the temple and have them sealed to us forever. What a great day that will be.

Easter 2012

My girls had so much fun on Easter. My grandma has an extravagant eater egg hunt every year and they were so excited and filled their buckets in no time.

My mom got the girls Easter dresses. They are so so cute and I could not help but drag them out to take pictures after church :)

our life in pictures...

Its been pretty warm for the most part the last couple weeks so we have been doing a bunch of outside. We taught savannah how to ride a bike :)

All of our smith cousins were in town the last couple of weeks. My girls love having kids to play with. We are super excited that Trevor and their 5 kids will be moving very close to us this summer.

Anavy had her tonsils taken out last week... she did great with the pain for the first day- then she had an allergic reaction to her antibiotic and later found out it was that and her lortab also. SSo she had a few days of itching- also she woke up bleeding from her mouth quite a bit a couple days ago so she spent from about 10 till 3 in the morning in the ER. Everything ended up being ok.

Anavy got new glasses. She is really liking them, probably because she can see out of her right eye now.

Brett's little brother Nate got married on Friday. They girls looked adorable. We had a fun time with all the little cousins.

My sister Macy came to town for her annual volleyball tournament at the U so we went to watch on Saturday and then spent some time with her. Its always fun to have her around and they girls love her.

This week is spring break so Monday and Tuesday we went over to the library for discovery time (singing, dancing, books, crafts) which the girls loved!

Last night, we put the girls down like usual around 7:30. Not an hour later we had Anavy and Savannah throwing up in their beds. Yhis continued over the next few hours until we had gone through 8 or so pairs of pajamas, every toddler sheet I own, 2 twim sheets and banet after blanket after blanket. Apperantlywe got it from trevors kids, who got it from Mandi's kids, who got it from their cousin on the other side. We in turn gav it to a bunch of neighborhood friends when we had a play group on Monday- They all ended up sick and their parents too.... so I feel bad. But I had no idea my kids were sick on Monday. YUCK.

But other than that, they are happy as usual...
